Formula BMW USA begins the second half of its 2005 season at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, AL.  A new circuit for the series, the twisty 2.3 miles of  Barber Motorsport Park. The qualify session for round 9 of the Formula BMW USA was canceled due to severe weather and lighting in the area.  The starting grid will be based on the championship points.  The weather at the track is very hot and humid all weekend over 100 degree.  Derek's Grandma and Grandpa Burseth and Grandma and Grandpa Noah were there to see him race and cheer him on.  With the heat and humidly Derek drove a clear race and probably sweated 10 pound off during the race.
